"Teach Yourself Guitar The EASY Way" - grab your FREE report that Reveals "How to Avoid the Top 7 Mistakes That Most Beginners Make When Buying a Guitar Learning Product"

The Washburn guitar is still very popular with the great guitar players of today. Some of the talented musicians that use their guitars are Dan Donegan (Disturbed), Dave Bakash (Sum 41), David Brenner, Dean Back and Tyler Connolly (Theory Of a Deadman), Doug Ardito, Paul Phillips and Wes Scantlin (Puddle of Mudd), Greg Tribbett (Mudvayne and Hellyeah), Hugh McDonald (Bon Jovi), JF (Kataklysm), Josey Scott and Wayne Swinny (Saliva), Sammy Hagar, Nick Catanese (Black Label Society), Peter Steele (Type O Negative), Rick Savage (Def Leppard), Roger Waters, and Scott Ian (Anthrax).

The Washburn guitar Company has been producing guitars for over 120 years. Washburn first starting making guitars in 1883 in Chicago Illinois, just a few blocks away from Maxwell Street. Maxwell Street would end up being the center of the Delta Blues movement in the 1920's.

Throughout the 100+ years of rich Washburn history, the company has made more than just acoustic and electric guitars. Washburn also makes acoustic and electric bass guitars, amps, banjos, mandolins and even travel guitars.

They also came out with the Buzz Feiten Tuning System, which is a tempered tuning formula that uses a compensated nut and saddle to correct the inherent intonation problems of the Western tuning formula.

The Washburn Company is also credited with being the first guitar manufacturer to use artists to endorse their guitars. In the past couple of decades in particular, Washburn has had some of the greatest guitar players in music associated with them. Some of the big names to promote and have signature models made for them are Jennifer Batten (Michael Jackson and Jeff Beck), Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme), Dimebag Darell (Pantera and Damageplan) and Paul Stanley (Kiss).

African Americans that moved to this location from the Mississippi Delta started the Delta Blues scene. The raw and emotional music that was created in this area ended up changing the way Blues and Rock and Roll would be played forever. Also, the atmosphere in this area would have been amazing to be a part of because music was performed everywhere you would look. Besides the common locations where you would often see musicians such as bars, the Delta Blues scene had performers playing on the side walks and alleyways as well. It was an everyday occurrence to often see people meeting up on the streets and jam with each other.

When word got out about this amazing music, people that were coming to check out the scene started to notice that most of the guitarists were playing Washburn's. This then led to the increase in popularity of Washburn guitars as well.

Even plan trips from the convenience of your computer, via Windows Live Local, and wirelessly send custom to your nüvi.

Check out a full description of MSN Direct content features, or a coverage map for MSN Direct services.

Multi-Destination Routing

Wider screen lets you see more of what's around. Compare these actual size views of a 3-inch (diagonal) screen
3-inch screen

and a 4.3-inch diagonal widescreen
4.3-inch screen

This lets you enter several spots into the device (day care - supermarket-cleaners - office - day care, for example) and it will plot the fastest route. And once you've found the best router, the "Route Planning" feature lets you save up to 10 different routes, Garmin touts the feature for providing, "the most efficient route for errands, deliveries and sales calls." The feature also makes this an instant essential accessory for anyone who shops garage sales (you know what we're talking about).

A trip log provides an electronic bread crumb trail of up to 10,000 points, so you can see where you've been on the map.

Where Am I? Where's My Car?
The nüvi 700 series is the first to answer two common questions: "Where am I?" and "Where's my car?"

At any time, with a single tap of the screen, drivers can display their exact latitude and longitude coordinates, the nearest address and intersection, and the closest hospitals, police stations and gas stations. And to help drivers find their car in an unfamiliar spot or vast parking lot, the nüvis in the 700 series automatically mark the position in which they were last removed from the mount.

See Better, See More
The super-bright, 4.3-inch (diagonal) touchscreen display gives is anti-glare for ease of viewing during the day and automatically changes its color profile for easy viewing at night or in dim light. It offers 2d or 3D perspective views.

The widescreen format gives you 70% more actual screen area than a 3.5-inch screen. Primarily this translates into a better view of the area through which you are driving. This is especially useful in showing you what parks, restaurants, ATM, gas stations, etc. are nearby, or in letting you know whether a detour is a good idea. Also, the device itself is larger, meaning controls on the screen are more widely spaced and somewhat easier to push.

First Rate Map Data
The nüvi 780 is preloaded with highly detailed City Navigator NT road maps for the entire United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. This map database features nearly six million points of interest (POIs), including hotels, restaurants, gas stations, ATMs, and attractions. Garmin gets its map data from NAVTEQ, a world leader in premium-quality mapping.

Important note about map updates: Due to our high volume of sales, almost every Garmin portable GPS navigator sold by Amazon.com will come with the most recent map version. If you ever do need a map update, you can purchase one from Amazon.com at our Garmin Store.

Hands-Free Calling
In more and more places, it is becoming illegal to use cell phones while driving without a hands-free kit. The nüvi 780's Bluetooth capability, microphone and speaker lets match it to any bluetooth-capable phone to make hands-free mobile phone calls. Simply dial the phone number with the nüvi's touch screen keypad to make a call on a compatible phone. To answer an incoming call, just tap the screen and speak into the built-in microphone. Making and taking calls on the road has never been easier, or safer. In addition, Garmin makes it a breeze to look-up and dial numbers from your personalized phone book or even tap into your cell phone's call history log.

Garmin Lock
Garmin's patent pending theft prevention system that disables the unit from performing any functions until the user types in a specific 4-digit PIN or takes the unit to a predetermined secure location

Easy To Use Interface
Garmin's interface is a key to their success and one of the things that makes their devices such a pleasure to use. Simple controls and sub-screens make it easy to enter or search for destinations and get data about your trip.

Garmin's own navigation is easy to use

Beyond Navigation

Browse your stored pictures with an easy-to-use JPEG viewer.
MP3 PlayerA handy MP3 player lets you play songs stored on SD memory cards. nüvi 250W accepts custom points of interest (POIs). View larger.

It also comes with Garmin Lock, an anti-theft feature, and configurable vehicle icons that let you select car-shaped graphics to show your location on the map.

Garmin has also added the ability for customers to add custom points of interest (POI's) from third parties such as school zones and safety cameras.

See more icon option
Like all nüvis, the 780 supports configurable vehicle icons. These fun, customized car-shaped icons come in a variety of colors to add a personal touch to your vehicle's position on the map.

With this GPS system on board you'll be prepared to steer clear of traffic with the integrated FM TMC traffic receiver. The nüvi 770 is designed to receive alerts about traffic tie-ups and road construction that might lie ahead on your route. All you have to do is simply touch the screen to view traffic details and you'll be ready to detour around any problem area. And if you end up missing a turn, or you're forced into a detour that is not relayed through the traffic receiver, the nüvi's sophisticated automatic routing will get you back on track in no time.

Customer Review: Best item for the price
This item has worked EXACTLY as described and better. This unit picks up satelites even while I am in most buildings. I have not lost signal unless in a metal building without windows. I Highly recommend this product. It is very nice to compare fuel prices while driving down the road, and then have it route to the fuel station of your choice. Again, I am VERY pleased with this item.
Customer Review: Does everything GPS!
I have been playing with my 780 for a couple of days and am amazed at how easy and intuitive it is to use. Bluetooth connectivity works well and not have time to add some pictures and songs to the unit, but will try that at a latter time. Garmin's updating software is smooth and very easy to use in updating both content and various firmware for the unit.

New GPS Combines Useful Features

Some types of technologies lend themselves especially well to being used in the woods because of their light weight and their ability to function without the support of other types of technologies. For example, many people do not go into the wilderness without a mobile phone for safety reasons. In this case, the fact that mobile phones are so light weight that they make sense to carry even though they don't necessarily work in places where tall, steep mountains would get in the way of finding a tower signal. Fortunately most people don't go very deep into the wilderness, so a mobile phone still makes sense to carry.

Now there are GPS devices that combine navigation features with other information available from satellite signals. A great new example of a device that bundles satellite technology features together is the Bushnell Weather Tracker ONIX 400. This device not only has the navigation capabilities of a typical GPS (the ability to determine position, speed, number of miles traveled, etc.), but it also comes with access to XM satellite radio channels and satellite based weather information. This unit is so advanced that it will even layer weather data over the map that's displayed on the screen of the device so that you can see where a new weather system is coming from. In many ways, the advanced warning that the Weather Tracker ONIX 400 can provide for outdoors people is a much better safety device than any mobile phone because it allows them to avoid trouble to begin with- which is preferable to having to contact someone for rescue after getting into trouble.

For times when an excursion doesn't involve emergencies, the XM satellite radio feature will provide an ever varying soundtrack for adventure. This GPS/satellite radio/weather forecasting device is a good example of how different features can be combined into a truly superior and useful gadget.

One of the places that gadgets are becoming increasingly popular is in the great outdoors. It used to be that people flocked to the wilderness in an effort to escape man made things and a lot of the luxuries and nuisances associated with more advanced technology. Now though many technological gadgets have become so light weight and useful that many hikers, boaters, mountain bikers, backpackers, skiers, snow shoers, and mountaineers see no reason not to bring a lot of compact luxuries along into the back country.

For people whose adventures take them farther afield, satellite technology offers a good way to stay connected. For instance, if one wants to have a way of contacting the outside world in case of emergency, a satellite phone is a much better choice than a mobile phone because a satellite phone will still work in places where there are too many miles or mountains in the way of getting a tower signal.
